One-time enemies, John McCain and Mitt Romney have joined forces in Utah today for their greater good, John McCain as President of the United States. They did not seem to like each other while campaigning for the Republican nomination. Romney accused McCain of adding to the problem, while McCain claimed Romney was one to go the way the wind blows.
Romney promised to help McCain, stating, “He is a man who is proven and tested”. He claims McCain is the right man for the job.
Back in February, before leaving the race, Romney won 90% of the Utah vote. McCain only won 5%. Thanks to being a Mormon and overseeing the Olympics in 2002, Mitt Romney has some strong ties in this state.
After leaving Utah, the pair took off to Denver for a fundraiser with Meg Whitman, the parting eBay Inc. chief executive. Whitman, a Romney supporter, who has begun to back McCain.
After realizing he could not conquer McCain’s lead in the delegate race, Romney pulled out of the presidential race last month. Mitt Romney has said that he would accept a spot as Vice President, but many think he is just looking to run again in 2012.
